This book really isn't what it thinks it is. The list of songs compiled seems to be based on what the author thought people might want to hear, with the odd "alternative" song thrown in to try and gain some credibility. The author seems to also have almost no interest in music either, and many reviews are pretty negative. If you're looking for well written, thoughtful and interesting reviews and discussions about songs and music... Look elsewhere.

The book seems to be mostly negative in its reviews. Instead of highlighting things that would be special about a track or an interesting feature, it focusses on, "This was liked by many but not me" type of thing. My husband ( the intended reader), finds this very irritating, having previously read the sound - a - like books "1001 Classic" , and Classical", Albums You Must Hear Before You Die". It was a bit of almost false adverting as this book seems to be on the same type of wavelength. It was NOT!
