I really like this book it has simple designs that are effective and look very impressive (like you have some real artistic ability... which I don't!) I found the instructions to be very clear and easy to understand, I would suggest using store bought fondant as this just gives a really professional finish but that is personal preference there are icing recipie suggestions included at the front of the book as well as a good basic cake mix to get you started. I would reccommend this book to any cake making newcomer :)

Debbie Brown is as it says: Easy. This isn't a book that is going to tell you you're ingedients and how to mix it together in detail, but it does offer easy ideas to decorate a cake. The fondant icing used is probably best to be purchased, since it doesn't have a 'how to make it' recipe in there.

Overall I found this book easy to use, and although it didn't look as good as the picture, my little girl was impressed and that was enough.

Be prepared to spend hours making the cake, but from the look on your kids face when you bring it out? It's worth it.

This book is pretty much as it says: easy. I'm not a good baker, but this book helped me decorate a cake that impressed my kids. Granted, it didn't look quite as good as the picture, but it was good enough.

This book isn't about backing tips or cake recipes, so if you are looking for that, buy something else. I would suggest this to any first-timer who wants to make nice looking cakes

a really good book, although not as simple and easy as the title suggests. Looking at the instructions, as an amatuer, i could probably do with a bit more help. For someone who isnt quite as new to cake decorating, the instructions might be sufficient, but i found myself a little bit lost at times. It is full of wonderful cake ideas though, so i would recommend it.

I am doing a cake project and i used some of the recipes in the book. I thought the candy house,party bags,mini monsters and fairie toadstool were very good and would reccomend them to all the peole i know if they did'nt know what birthday cake to have.

A really wonderful cookbook, with the most amazing cakes. Beatifull pictures and step by step instructions on how to create these wonderfull master pieces. A great book for your next birthday party or just to show off to your friends with what wonderfull creations you have created. Definitly a book I whould recomend. "two thumbs up"

this book of birthday cakes was great. it was full of humourous and cute wee cake ideas, that would be perfect for a childs birthday. the cakes were so fantastic, i loved just looking at all the bright happy designs, and i am sure that any child lucky enough to recieve one of those cakes would cherish it, right up to the last piece!

This book is really great if you have young children. As they grow up they can choose different cakes for different birthdays and these cakes inspire some great party themes. The cakes are gorgeous and the book provides easy to follow instructions which ensure perfect cakes every time
