Nice book with interesting recipes, however the measurements are frustrating (all shown in grams). Aside from that, I've made some yummy treats (the sticky date pudding cupcakes are lovely), and the layout and design is simple and clear.

Not a bad book, but I agree with the other reviews; not quite as many variations as you would expect. Things like the 'icecream' cupcakes, which were basically a cupcake filled with icecream then put back in the freezer! Good idea though, and there's a couple of good gluten free recipes in the back. Good if you are looking for simple ideas, and easy to follow, with things you would normally have in the pantry.

Clearly not the best cupcake books out there. But if you are looking for simple ideas, this may be the one.

Clearly there are a lot of cupcake recipes in here - the way they make up the 500 is by doing variations on each of the main cupcake recipes. On top of this the majority of recipes involve either plain or chocolate base cupcakes, with just a few added ingredients here and there. This makes for easy cooking (and all the recipes i've tried so far have worked fine) and traditional cupcakes, but means that there isn't quite as much diversity as you might have expected.

This book does have a lot of recipies and variations on them. It is easy to follow and the ones I've made so far have been lovely. I think that if i was buying a cupcake book again I would go for the Australian Woman's Weekly one, that one has more inspiring ideas on how to use cupcakes - wedding cakes etc. This is a decent basic book, but to be honest I could probably have gleaned the information out of other baking books I have.

I like this book. I learn about new flavour of cupcakes and what can you put in when you make a cupcake. But it's not really 500 different cupcakes. They only put maybe 100 base recipes and the others are just the alternatives (makes it 500 recipes). Otherwise it's good.
