Dr Covey has put together one of the best works ever. The key word in the title is "habits", no thinking about, setting goals to do something, swishing or anchoring yourself, but actually developing habits and actually doing it.
I've read this book several times and I get something new out of it every time. The only other self development book that helped me this much (I've read them all) is "THINK & GROW RICH" by Napolean Hill I also highly recommend "BUSINESS BUY THE BIBLE" and "DON'T SET GOALS" by Wade Cook. These books are very much in the tradition of "SEVEN HABITS".
To me, this book is not only "not over rated" as one reader indicated, I believe that it is grossly under rated and arguably is the best self development book on the book racks right now!

This book was informative, engaging, inspiring, insightful and interesting. It combines history, psychology, science and a whole bunch of common sense. Prior to reading this book, I had read many self help books - nearly all of them made some reference to Dr Covey's work or this book. I made a decision as part of my development at work to read this book - and it's probably one of the best investments I've ever made.
The information in this book teaches us why we fail - what components are missing from our mindsets when we fail, and he illustrates that unless we learn the valuable lessons that are there (when we fail) that we will probably go on to repeat those mistakes and failures. If anything this book has been a powerful insight into how we can each control our own destiny by implementing 7 effective habits which can be incorporated into our working and personal lives. When you finish reading a chapter of this book, you automatically have new insight into the steps you need to make to correct past learnings. It's truly an inspiring and empowering book that people of all ages can only benefit from. Well done Dr Covey!

I love self help/self development books and this one is one of the most comprehensive, engaging, relevant and interesting books I've read. Covey uses his own experiences to provide readers with insight as to how the techniques can be applied in everyday life and the benefits to your life. He breaks these principles down in an easy to understand way. I'm already making the change I need to make and it's all thanks to Dr Covey.

I have yet to finish reading this book. However, of what I've read it is very insightful and interactive. I am only up to habit 3 but I have begun to apply the principles to my life and I can already feel the difference.

This book was awesome, it was one of the first 'self help' books I ever read and I got a lot out of it. Highly recommend it. It goes into the steps required from dependance to becoming independent and then becoming interdependant ie creating synergy in your relationships with other people. Some of it is more focused on your relationships with other peope ie making sure you understand them before you try to make them understand you, and other parts are about improving yourself from the inside out eg focusing on the most important things first.
