About the Author

Pamela V. Hammond, PhD, RN, FAAN, ANEF Dr. Pamela V. Hammond is Provost and the immediate past dean of the School of Nursing at Hampton University. She has held a variety of leadership positions of increasing responsibility and dedicated herself to promoting the education and well-being of students and the health and welfare of underserved, abused, and neglected individuals. Her most notable appointments have been to the National Advisory Council on Minority Health and Health Disparities, National Library of Medicine Environmental Health Information Partnership, Virginia Board of Nursing, and the Advisory Council on the Future of Nursing in Virginia. Dr. Hammond continues to serve on several boards and is an active member of numerous professional organizations including the acclaimed American Academy of Nursing and the Academy of Nursing Education. Dr. Hammond holds the BS degree in Nursing from Tuskegee University, a MS in Maternal Child Nursing from the University of Maryland-Baltimore, and doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University.
