This Alfred Basic series are the most popular ones for beginners nowadays. In my old days, John Thompson was the one which was deemed to be out-dated!!! This book is so colourful and the illustrations are great. The best thing is that every song comes with lyrics. My daughter enjoyed playing the music and sing with it although the songs are very so simple. She also learns how to read the lyrics over time. It does improve her reading skills. This book comes with a CD. So, you can play the music in the car over and over again for the child to know how good the music can sound if they work hard.
