About the Author

Harry Charrington is an architect who has worked at and written extensively on the Alvar Aalto workshop. He completed his doctoral degree based on Alvar Aalto's social and artistic practice. He is the author of The House of Culture, a lecturer at the University of Bath, and the former curator of the exhibition Alvar Aalto: Process & Culture in London. He has built and taught in Finland, France, and the United Kingdom. Vezio Nava is an architect who worked at the Alvar Aalto workshop, where he was involved in the detailed design of several projects including Finlandia Hall. He is the former job architect for the Riola Church in Italy, which took nearly 15 years to complete. He is a founding member and board member of the Finnish Committee for the Restoration of Viipuri Library, has lectured in Finland and abroad, and has contributed articles to several professional publications.
