I brought this book and i love it, I have made most of the things inside, my daughter loved the little crochet cupcake and cookie sandwichs for her tea set and i made the bunny for my hubby to sit on his desk at work.
Its perfect for people just starting out.
This book is great

I haven't actually made anything yet, but these book makes it look easy for beginners to crochet. There is information about tools and materials and stitches and the projects start simple and build up. I can't wait to have some time to start. Also, it is great that these projects use the 'cheap' acrylic yarn that is easy on the budget.

Excellent book. Great detail & very descriptive. However, you did need to definitely take into account that some amount of conversion from US stitches to Aus stitches must happen. I used a Crochet bible to get that happening... :-)
Am totally happy with this book though. I did the cute little monkey that you see on the cover & my son absolutely loved it!

This is a great book for people who wish to make the Japanese-style toys called "Amigurumi". Beth Doerty's toys have been gaining increasing acclaim on websites like flickr, and projects from this book are popping up all over the internet. The book assumes no knowledge of crochet techniques, and the projects progress in order of difficulty. The four humanoids and pig on the front are highlights (although for more experienced crocheters) and other projects include a deer, a sausage dog, a fish skeleton, and some amigurumi food favourites like a burger. Well styled and achievable! Note that this is an American book, so the crochet terminology is different to that commonly used in Australia and England, so make sure that you convert the stitch names.
