Funnily enough, i read this book as a child and thought that it really WAS about animals. I remember thinking, Evil Pigs, I'm glad you're bacon in MY world, and Poor Hardworking Horsies, come live on my farm instead. You can have all the hay and makopa you want (sadly, no apples, tropical climate).
I reread it after education spoiled my natural inclinations for fast and absolute punishment of evildoers and eternal rewards for the good.

The volume consists of two most renowned work of George Orwell, and for those who are really willing to share the mindset and ideas of Orwell as well as that of his era, this is a valuable collection.
I finished animal farm in several hours, and really felt overwhelmed by the extensive influence generated by such a small-scaled story and fable-like characters.
At the same time of satirising communism in Russia, it seemed that there was a more eminent issue proposed by Orwell, "Egoism". Most of the equality schemes or propositions would end up in fiasco out of the most basic yet detrimental nature in human beings. One is not immune, at least not in the long term, from drawing certain kinds of borderlines, however vague they may be, between themselves and those claimed to be in equal status in the first place. Maybe this very idiosyncrasy is the very irony of human nature, of the world!

Two of Orwell's most famous novels and rightly so. Nothing else will leave the reader more shocked than 1984 and Animal Farm's insights into communism will leave a wry smile on your face. These two novels brought together is an excellent choice, especially as they are so different - they will not bore you.

two of george orwells most famous and well loved books. both are chilling tales which serve as warnings for society. animal farm is about a percieved utopian society, which turns out to be not so perfect after all. 1984 is a tale of totalitarianism, and the dangers of letting the govt control everything, as people lose their individutality.

this is a good buy for anyone looking to read up on their orwell! contains his two most famous novels in the one book, which is very handy! tells of animal farm, which parallels with staling regime, and of 1984, which tells of the govt, and how much power they can have in an oppressive society. great reading, i really recommend both of these books!
