This book always has my kids giggling as the poor baby bird looks for his mother, who has gone to get him some food. As he approaches each new creature and asks 'are you my mother?' only to be told 'no' and sent on his way. The poor baby bird ends up facing the 'snort' and then returning to his home where his mother finally arrives to care for him.

I purchased this to replace a very tired copy from thirty years ago. Was mortified to have our two year old grandson point out that it was an abridged version - I don't feel this was clear when I ordered it.

are you my mother is a great childrens book! poor baby bird has fallen out of his nest while mother bird has gone to find food. it is a story of his seach for his mother and the characters he meets along the way a great story for little children specaillly for those who are learning aminals such as dogs cats and cows... and not to meation the snort.
