This book is motivational in nature, filled with nice art quotes and 'pick me up' paragraphs. Although I found it to be a generally entertaining read, it is a bit light on content. It goes through the reasons people often give up on art, covering self doubt, comparison with others, meaning in your work etc, and includes an interesting look at the art education system. The book lacks any practical advice though, such as interactions with galleries or collectors, or any sort of financial considerations (which in my opinion is the primary concern of the majority of artists and the main source of their "fear"), and in that regard the book is primarily aimed at hobbyists rather than professional practicing artists. This book can help you come to terms with the emotional journey that is often involved with dedicating yourself to art. I can see it being a perfect book for people who are at a particular stage of self-doubt with their art practice (that everybody goes through), but I personally didn't get as much out of it as I would have liked.

This book draws on the experiences of "both authors as working artists, grappling daily with problems of making art in the real world." It covers fears about yourself as an artist, fears about what others might think of you, finding and trusting your own artistic voice, becoming self-reliant, the academic world, and conceptual worlds. It has sound advice, many inspirational quotes, and should strike a chord with many artists trying to find their way.
