About the Author
Howard Karp has performed as a soloist with symphony orchestras in the United States and Europe, including the Amsterdam Philharmonic, the Minnesota Orchestra, and the Madison Symphony. He has given solo recitals throughout the United States and frequently appears in chamber music concerts, performing duo and duet recitals with his wife, Frances Karp. He studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the Juilliard School of Music, and the Akademie fur Musik in Vienna. After a forty-six year career in college teaching, Karp retired in 2000 as professor of music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He had previously taught at the University of Illinois and the University of Kentucky.
"Howard Karp's glorious pianism, his crystalline sound, the thrilling risk-taking and dare-devil virtuosity, and the depth of his interpretations all shine through vividly in these recordings. We pay homage to Howard Karp as a performer, teacher, colleague, mentor, and friend." - Bill Lutes, former classical music host for Wisconsin Public Radio"
