I had seen this book in our Library before purchasing.
It is a fantastic book that has all different types of manipulations including pleating, quilting, smocking, tucking etc.
Fishpond delivered fast and the book was in great nick when i got it.

An amazing book - what you can do with flat fabric and a threaded needle! An excellent buy and a must in any dress makers or designer's library. The illustration are clear and well displayed and the illustrations easy to follow. The paperback also has a practical side and is easy to carry around for a student. I would highly recommend it.

Well worth adding to the library. Comprehensive with step-by-step instructions so you can start straight away. Does not include projects, as it's more a reference book, so you have to imagine for yourself how you're actually going to use the techniques. Diagrams are adequate and helpful. This book opened up a whole new world of sewing to me, a novice, and I'm happy with my purchase.

The Art of Manipulating Fabric
One of the most useful sewing books I ever bought. Just flicking through the pages simply amazed me. The pictures are great, the instructions brief but very easy to follow. It's simply amazing what can be achieved with a flat piece of farbic and a threaded needle. This book is a must have for every sewer!

This is basically an encylopedia of ways to cut and sew material only, ie manipulating the fabric to make ruffles, pin wheels etc. It does not venture into anything outside of that remit, so if you are looking at ways of bleaching, dying etc, this is not the book for you. The diagrams are in black and white, either photo's or drawings. This book was an excellent cure for insomnia, detailed but uninspiring.
