This book is tiny - it is really small physically! In content is a version of the classic text but as it lacks any explanation of how these ancient rules translate from the battlefield to the boardroom it is perhaps not the best version of this book for the contemporary reader. It is an interesting read but not perhaps as much as you imagine when you think of this ancient text.

A collection of mantras and proverbs ('Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer', etc.) written about war that can just as easily be applied to aspects of everyday society. This edition is one of the better translations I've read. All in all, still a very important tome that contains many words to live by.

i was recommended to read "art of war" so i decided to buy it without actually looking at the book. one good tip is read the fine print! it says down the bottom "the best selling translation." thinking wow this is really cheap i bought it. when i got it i was highly disappointed and only took a short time to read. someone told me its only good for a toilet read!!!! it was really interesting and i do want to buy the "proper" art of war book. if you want a quick read i do recommend this book however if you want the "real" version i suggest you don't buy this one. don't be alarmed by its size when it arrives....its tiny!!!!

Yeah, so, as many people have said in other reviews (which I probably should have read before purchasing) this book is the pocket version. It is tiny. I'm not sure what kind of a person would carry round the art of war in their pocket, but if that sounds like something you would like to do, more power to you. Buy this book.

I wish it was mentioned that it was a pocket book in the description. If i had known i would not have ordered it. First order with fishpond and the last.

'The Art of War' was probably written during a time of uneasy peace in China, the Spring and Autumn Period (722–481 BCE), immediately prior to the Warring States Period. The name 'Sun Tzu' was most likely adopted to protect the identity of the author or authors. 'The Art of War' has captured the interest of recent generations because the strategies expounded in this book, also relevant to many areas of modern life, are as viable today as when first recorded in ancient times.

click to enlarge is right. I used to own this book and was offered it as a special when I ordered the book of five rings, only when it arrived I discovered that it is about two inches square. How anyone could be expected to be able to hold it and read it at the same time is beyond me. This was my first experience at ordering from fish pond and I am not satisfied at all. The actual size of the book is not mentioned at all, only that it is a hard cover, english translation of Sun Tzu.

Mybe it was the translation but I found this book a little hard to follow. It seems a little disjointed.
I would be interested to read the full version which would probably make more sense.
