I really like this book. I wish I had read it before I had my daughter tho as after she was born I had only read the books about pregnancy and forgot that I didnt have a clue what to do after the birth.
This is book is a really good guideline for setting your child up with good sleep habits. I took some and left some and didnt do it as strict routine as Tracey Hoggs but it definately did help. My daughter has the best sleeping habits now. Will have a 2 to 3 hour sleep a day and sleep through the night from about 7.30 sometimes earlier. She is 22 months old. Has also been sleeping through the night since about 6 months except when teething. I am reading up on this book before the next one is due. And will be giving a copy to my Sister in law.

It was really good and I wish I had read the book before my little Olivia was born. I bought the book when she was 8 months when I realised that Olivia had some eating and sleeping problem. Many points are useful however some are not very practical.

Easy to read and very helpful techniques to help with common problems. The baby whisperer philosophy is mainly commonsense and takes the panic out of a lot of baby and toddler issues. This book is basically a condensed version of Tracy Hogg's first 2 books "Baby Whisperer" and "Toddler Whisperer" although I found all good to read.

There are many baby books on the market that swear by what they have written. Many too are a load of crap in my view, mostly because they try to manipulate you into believing that you have no clue, which in my opinion is never the case! Tracy Hogg has a way of writing that really appeals to me and my friends, she does not make you feel incompetent as a parent but actually empowers you by giving you all the options and then explaining hers, which in my opinion is always the middle ground, neither too much nor too little. I have had to wonderful sons, 10 years apart and now another one on the way, with both my previous children I have made the very same mistakes and ended up with the very same problems in both children ie: endless breastfeeding, bad sleepers and of course separation anxiety well in the pre-school years! I have been told many time over the years that I need to be tougher but its just not in my heart and their is my mistake, I read grown emotions into my children and never want to put them down, so the never-ending attachment begins. Tracy Hogg manages to ease my fears and makes me feel like she is with me all the way and most of all, her ideas really make sense to me and I feel that I can try her way without sacrificing who I am as a parent but rather adjusting my parental skills. Now that I have this book I look forward to the birth of the next baby because I feel empowered as a mother!

In my opinion this book has been a life saver. It gave my husband and I a sense that we could work with our beautiful son to help him establish routines that will help him sleep better, eat better and be happier all round. It should be noted that this is a book that advocates the setting of a routine with your child - not attachment parenting. If attachment parenting is your style of parenting then you are not likely to enjoy this book.
Tracy Hogg is a big believer in getting your baby on a schedule as soon as possible, but she clearly loves babies and advocates for doing so gently, paying attention to your baby's needs and cues. Overall, I found the book to be full of helpful suggestions and information.
In particular, the detailed charts of what quantity and types of foods babies should eat at various stages and sample routines and schedules are invaluable. Even though I didn't follow them exactly, it helped to have detailed, specific examples rather than the vague suggestions that most baby books offer.
Bottom line: if you are opposed to the idea of getting your baby on a schedule and directing her routine you will not enjoy this book. If, however, you're open to that philosophy, this book is a must-have.

I know a lot of people have found this authors books very helpful. I guess every baby and every parent is different and different things work for each. Please don't be offended but here is my humble opinion! - Personally I did not find this book helpful. I deeply regret trying some of the techniques and actually found them damaging. Know yourself and if you are one of those people who is hesitant to leave your baby to cry, then I would recommend checking out "The No-Cry Sleep Solution" first - it's a great book! And even if everyone around you is saying otherwise, take it from me - it actually is OK not to have your baby on a strict routine, if it works for you!
