This superbly illustrated text familiarizes students with individual muscles and muscle systems and demonstrates basic clinical massage therapy techniques. More than 550 full-color illustrations of internal structures are embedded into photographs of live models to show each muscle or muscle group, surrounding structures, surface landmarks, and the therapist's hands. Students see clearly which muscle is being worked, where it is, where it is attached, how it can be accessed manually, what problems it can cause, and how treatment techniques are performed. This edition features improved illustrations of draping and includes palpation for each muscle. An accompanying Real Bodywork DVD includes video demonstrations of massage techniques from the book.

This book has been the best point of reference for my entire massage course, highly recommended for anyone studying massage therapy, or wanting to update their knowledge, even great for studying fitness as the illustrations really assist with learning anatomy and the surrounding structures.
As a student of remedial massage, this book has been an excellent resource. The anatomical pictures are excellent in integrating varying layers of tissue for overall understanding without the "gross" element or unrealistic simplification. I refer to this book continually.
I am a certified massage therapist with my own private practise and also work in a Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture clinic, I purchased this book because someone had loaned me their earlier edition without the DVD and had to return it. I am so impressed with this book that I'm learning and using many of the techniques in my everyday practise of massage therapy, I can't recommend it hightly enough, it goes way beyond what you will learn when studying for your certificate IV or Diploma in Remedial massage.
This book is an excellent resource for any massage therapy student or practitioner. It not only has excellent pictures of the muscles and their locations and actions but provides further information on manual therapy techniques to apply, how to palpate, the referal patterns and surrounding muscles to consider during treatment. Delivery was fast and books arrived in perfect condition. Extremely happy with the service and the texts i purchased.
As a Remedial Massage Therapy student I have found this book to be a wonderful resouce. However it must be remembered that in Australia we do not put our fingers in any orifice to massage, it is outside what we are allowed to do by Law. The illustrations make it very easy to understand the muscles underneath the skin and bones. Well done.
Great Book! Detailed illustrations, fundamental knowledge. I've been a massage therapist for 16 years and this book is going to go in my travel kit.... an excellent reference tool.
