A practical and sensible approach to the struggles that all parents experience. Practical advice that is easy to apply and makes you realise that all kids push back at some if not all the growth stages.

If you liked Nigel Latta'a Politically Incorrect series for raising kids then you will really enjoy this book of his also. One of the most down to earth, practical books on parenting I have read.

The biggest thing I got from this book was the ability to look at those behaviors that drive me crazy and appreciate them for what they are, and then have a plan for how to deal with them. Previously I would always get drawn into them and end up getting worked up myself. Now I can deal with them calmly, and more effectively, everyone is happier.
There are lots of things in the book we have all heard before, but really nice to have some good things reinforced and to feel like we (as parents) are doing a good job sometimes too.
I highly recommend the book, it truly does bring a calmer manner into the house for everyone.

Great book. Easy to read and full of good kiwi humour. Taught me some new things and reminded me of a few I had forgotten. His inclusive style means you never feel like a bad parent, you just feel like a normal parent with pretty normal kids. Highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic book. Nigel writes with humour and common sense....not a lot of that around at the moment. We were having an incredibly difficult time with an 11 year old and a 6 year old and while this book ranges from baby to 12-13 year olds it covered our predicament too. We especially found that the Ladder of Certain Doom is the most effective way of dealing with behaviour that we are trying to discourage. Give it a go please.

Nice easy read. I like his style but to be honest I didn't get a lot out of the book from a "toolkit" perpespective, the main thing I'll take away is around star charts, Nigel has a slightly different approach to the one I've been using. Probably a good book to get out of the library if you want to read it... some books are good to have to refer to time and time again.. this isn't one of those for me.

A terrific read for all parents, grandparents or anyone who assists in child-rearing. Practical advice that is easy to apply and makes you realise that all kids push back at some if not all the growth stages. Written with humour and a good dollop of 'kiwi' that will have you grinning while nodding that you understand exactly what the parents are going through.
