This is such a valuable book for Beginners. The basics on icings that take you through to some very pleasing results. There are also basic cake recipes. If I had started with this and one other book (The Essential Guide to Cake Decorating) I would not have needed anything else.
i bought this book 1 week ago, and I'm still going thorugh it. It looks really good and it shows all the basic techniques of cake decorating using variety of methods - from buttercream to sugarpaste and chocolate. I found that it does skip the finer points of making figurines properly, and might leave some readers wondering... however it also provides basic recipes for few cakes, as well as designs for a variety of occassions. Overall, it is a pretty good book worth buying.
