Wow, this is a really comprehensive guide to all types of preserving, rather than just the usual jams, relishes and chutneys. It includes preparing your fruit and vegies for storage in a root cellar, drying, or freezing. There are great chapters where it lists vegetables, fruits and herbs with several methods for preserving each; it says which method is the fastest and which is the best or produces the best result. There is also a range of yummy sounding recipes that I look forward to trying. It is an American book so the recipe weights are in pounds for most of the fruit/vegetables and cups/spoons for the other ingredients.
I would recommend this to beginners for sure and it is also a book you would continue to refer to. Well worth the purchase!
