I first read this series when I was a teenager, and I've read them so often, that I'm on my third set of copies (who knew books could wear out!). I HIGHLY recommend these for newbies to fantasy, as while the plotline is very simple, and quite common, David (and Leigh) Eddings really do write these characters in such a way that they become old friends. I had a crush on Silk like you wouldn't believe! Garion/Belgarion remains charming as the 'questing hero' and Polgara is ever beautiful both outside and in as the voice of love and reason. As for Belgarath, such a lecherous, drunken apostle no world has ever seen (I love him)! Fantastic read, even for the umpteenth time!

Although for a lot of people, Eddings is now considered to be quite old fashioned and cliche, these books still have a special place in my heart as they were among the first true fantasy books I ever read. For beginners and new readers of fantasy, you'll be hard pressed to find a better classic series to start. It's simple, entertaining fare, while easily introducing certain conventions of fantasy that you'll come across again and again.

Fun stuff! You can't help but fall in love with the characters :)

This is the second book of the series and it continues to deepen some of the characters as they race around on their quest against time to save the world. Its a great book and really easy to read. The characters are likeable and David Eddings has a wonderful repartee between some of his characters. Its a happy book and you will want to read more.

This was the first set of books I read as a teenager and from then on I have been addicted to reading. Highly recomended to all ages, this is a coming of age book in alot of ways and will appeal to boys and girls alike. Both my husband and I read these before we even met.

What can I say about the second book of the series that I haven't said about the first? Nothing so here is my review.
A series and a writer you can read over and over again without ever getting bored. I read The Belgariad when I was a young adolescene and now I have a young adolescene of my own who is reading it. I still read the series every couple of years as the characters and the writing work their way into your soul. Best set of fiction ever!

This is the second volume which contains the last two books in the Belgariad series: Castle of Wizardry and Enchanters' End Game.

I love the whole adventure and mayhem in these books and how Garion grows into Belgarion and accepts his heritage. I especially love the ending and Garion's people with there stone and gray outside and warm colourful inside. Well recommended.

Just as good as the first book in the series. The Belgariad, from beginning to end, is a fantastic read. The characters will amuse and engage you and the plot, unlike some of his more recent works, is fresh and interesting. My own copies are falling apart from the number of times I have read them. I still enjoy them as much as I did as a teenager when I first read them. Highly recommended.

The continuing adventures of Garion and his quest companions does not disappoint those who enjoyed the first installment. Eddings has a wonderfully dry humour and has created truly absorbing characters that make this classic fantasy quest an endlessly entertaining read.

These books are very cool. The plot-line itself is a simple formula, with what you would think were hackneyed stereotypes, but under the two Eddings's loving pen they really take on lives of there own. Silk is possibly the most fun to watch, but the all-powerful drunken wise-man, the oddly domesticated sorceresses and the clueless Hero, all come together to make a great read.

Fantastic series! Very worthwhile read that will keep you interested from start to finish.

The plot and characters (particularly the amusing and intriguing Silk) will keep you entranced. Wonderfully presented, great realistic dialogue. David Eddings is truly one of the leaders of the fantsy genre.

A great read (and lots more to follow)...
