A marvellous text filled with wondrous polemic and victorian convolution.Primarily, concerned with the problems arising from presupposition in philosophy something for which he often ascribes to the influence of the absolute antithetic moralist system comprises of yes and no, good and evil.
Though i somewhat disagree with his entirely empiricistic and post modern view at times, his wit and logic and astounding and is adept and convincing even the staunch non believer. His opinions on women and those of lower class fills one at awe at how such a noble conceited being could have been alighted on this planet.
A intriguing rebuff of stoicism is included, though i am not at all convinced that he disagrees with the concept entirely; perhaps just the the method by which its votaries profess it. This being because he constantly advises oneself against martyrdom, fervour and passion which compromises one's will to power.
Quite antagonistic of religion, nietzche's approach offers an insightful and novel approach which differs from the rationalistic and analytic method that most free thinkers of his time professed; he simply advised against it on the basis of consequence, in that it weakened the noble man with pity, enslaved the masses and restricted one's will to power.
Fortunately, it becomes ostensible that Nietzche wasnt as anti-semitic and pro-nazi as he is made out to be; it was obvious that this was insidious influence of his sister, something for which he could surely understand given his ardent misgivings about women involving themselves in politics.

Represents Nietzsche's attempt to sum up his philosophy. In nine parts the book is designed to give the reader a comprehensive idea of Nietzche's thought and style. With an inclusive index of subjects and persons.

This is as good a place as any to start your exploration of Nietzsche. The problem is, even though it is supposed to be a more straightforward approach at communicating the message found in Zarathustra, this is still written very pithily. The prose is very joyful, poetic, and requires thought. Then again, if you weren't willing to commit some thought to Nietzsche, then it's not worth picking up Nietzsche.
However, it is worth mentioning that you shouldn't pick up this book. Now that Kaufmann's Basic Writings of Nietzsche, which contains this book along with four others (Birth of Tragedy, On the Genealogy of Morals, The Case of Wagner, and Ecce Homo) is in paperback for only slightly more money, it's best to buy that instead.
