Motley Crue was the voice of a barely pubescent Generation X, the anointed high priests of the power ballad, and the pioneers of Hollywood glam. Their sex lives claimed celebrities like Heather Locklear and Pamela Anderson as well as teenage groupies all over the world. When they weren't appeasing their voracious sexual appetites, Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil and Mick Mars cultivated their other interests - collecting automatic weapons, creating long and lurid rap sheets, doing every conceivable drug in every conceivable fashion and dreaming up backstage antics that would make Ozzy Osbourne blanch with modesty. Provocatively written and brilliantly designed, this book includes over 100 photos for the most insightful look ever into the Crue - the most infamous band in the world. The Dirt spent four weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and sold over 13,000 copies in hardback in the UK.

A wild look at this band that just keeps surviving. As a Crue fan i couldn't wait to get this book and it didnt disappoint. It was great to hear the stories interpreted from all four members, at times viewing the same incidents from completely different angles. All the hijinx of a decadent rock band are in here, along with emotional moments such as Vince dealing with the death of his little daughter. I recommend this to anyone who wants an insight into the world of rock.
My mind has been blown away over and over again by this book. It was Fantastic.
This book excitig, vivid, insightful and just plain crazy. Very well written .
Everytime you read something of their adventures you turn the page and they have topped it
Its amazing what they got upto and are still alive, i loved it.
Well worth buying it to see their adventures.
This book was hilarious! So interesting! Some of the stuff they got up to! Talk about living it up. Although there are some sad moments in the book. I had to laugh out loud when the band goes to Japan and the poor man looking after the band definitley must of been happy when they left Japan - that is all I'll say! I quite liked how they laid out this book aswell - each chapter is on 1 particular band member and their thoughts etc. There is also a lot of great photos in this book aswell.
This book is a real insight in the mysterious world of rock and roll and all its demons. The band members are very frank and open in their recollection of events. I found that each member having their own spin on events opens you up to the whole event. It gives you an inside to how the band started and how they evolved and how they interacted with each other. In parts this book was hilarious and in others, it was just heart-breaking. If you a fan of Motley Crue then you will enjoy this read.
This book is a hugely vivid history of Motley Crue from the band members childhoods through to the present, recounted by all four members. What I loved most about this book is that we as the reader get the view point of all of the band members on different incidents and other happenings and at times it is interesting to see how their memories match in being able to recall the details. This book touches on everything that has happened in their time as a band. From Vince Neil being imprisoned after a drink driving accident causes the death of Razzle from Hanoi Rocks through to the death of his little girl. Tommy Lees marriage to Pam Anderson and Heather Locklear and his subsequent jail stint. Mick Mars crippling bone disease and Nicki Sixxs Heroin addiction. Not to mention the dozens of sexually explicit moments in the book.
Motley Crue reached notoriety in their early years of fame and still remain today as the badboys of metal. This book takes the reader underground, backstage and into the lives of the band. Although gruesome the book is a real eye opener and a very interesting read!
This book takes the reader on tour with the band Motley Crue, offering a birds-eye view of what goes on backstage. For all of the readers who wish to discover what goes on being a famous world-touring rock and roll star, this is the book for you.
Through the most vulgar of incidents (a bloody bedsheet for their stage backdrop) to the tragic (Nikki Sixx killed a close friend while drunk driving), The Dirt offers a rare glimpse into the extreme highs, and the devestating lows of fame, fortune and of course girls girls girls.
I love this book, biased as I am as a Motley Crue fan, and I am sure that even the most prudish of readers will find this book a hilarious riot of the most outrageous, coke-snorting, groupie-mauling legendary rock stars to ever make it big.
A very good book, a Motley Crue fan should have this book, it is funny and even gross at the same time. These guys did the most entertaining stuff backstage on tours. Featuring alot of photos. The most infamous band in the world, this book is a bestseller in many countries. Highly reccomended to any fans.
The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band certainly lives up to its name. Having been a fan of the Crue for years I couldn't wait to start reading, and then couldn't put it down.
It's full of frank and somtimes brutal revelations about the band, the drugs and alcohol abuse, the women, and the way band lived, worked and played together.
