As an older child, this was the first autobiography I ever read and it has stuck with me for all these years. It is an account of a sometimes difficult and hard childhood, but Dahl's recollection is humourous, entertaining and heartwarming. It is an interesting childhood, granted, but it is Dahl's writing that makes it a real page-turner. A great, great read.
