– Customer review on 06/02/2008 On the back of my copy of this book a reviewer has stated "Everyone must read this book." I agree. It is a stunning book, even now, over 45 years since it was first published, as it's theme, ideas and revelations are just as relevant today as they were then. Griffin, a white man in America, recounts his experiences of what happened when he darkened his skin to look like a black man, and travelled through the American Deep South as an African American male in the late 1950s. A brilliant book, that must be read. Shattering.
