– Customer review on 18/11/2008 A thoughtful and insightful biography on one of the greatest minds in history by the expert. This is the abridged version of the authoritative 'Never at Rest' 900+ page tome by the same author.
This version focuses on his life, education and connections. As well as relationships and correspondence; and the rivalry with other scientists and mathemeticians. The scientific theory - laws of motion, optics, calculus - have been delibirately pared down to be almost non-existent (unlike the longer version).
I have also read the biography by Gleick - I prefer this one. (More chatty, less dry in comparison). I want to have a look at the longer version, but I am a bit of a nerd and science buff.
