Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank's remarkable diary has since become a world classic -- a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit. In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a thirteen-year-old Jewish girl and her family fled their home in Amsterdam and went into hiding. For the next two years, until their whereabouts were betrayed to the Gestapo, they and another family lived cloistered in the "Secret Annex" of an old office building. Cut off from the outside world, they faced hunger, boredom, the constant cruelties of living in confined quarters, and the ever-present threat of discovery and death. In her diary Anne Frank recorded vivid impressions of her experiences during this period. By turns thoughtful, moving, and amusing, her account offers a fascinating commentary on human courage and frailty and a compelling self-portrait of a sensitive and spirited young woman whose promise was tragically cut short.

This is an amazing book that will get people of all ages hooked. It is a heartfelt look at a young girls trying to make sense of a war that she has been flung into. A fantastic book that has lasted through the years. It is one book that can be treasured for a lifetime.
anne franks diary is one of the many books every literate person must read before he or she dies. anne frank tells of a young jewish girl who hides from the german soldiers during the holocaust and it is heart breaking to read first hand of the horrors of the second world war. a haunting, deep novel
This book was truly inspirational and I am constantly impressed by Anne Franks wisdom and maturity but at the same time it is a book that teen girls will connect with and enjoy. It is a good novel for putting life in perspective for todays teenagers. While we think we are hard done by if we are boyfriendless, a couple of pounds overweight, or don't have the latest technology gadget, Anne Frank through her wonderful diary teaches us that there are far more bigger issues that one must learn to face.
This book was so inspirational, I think one book that should be read, not only for the thoughts of a young girl and a young girls emotions but also for the situation in which she was living. I couldn't put the book down and my husband who usually only reads technical books couldn't put it down either.
this is a must read for anyone anywhere, as it will really open up your eyes to the events of the holocaust, and the efects it had on peoples lioves. by expereinceing it through the eyes of a young anne frank, one can truly grasp the horrors of the war, and can learn more about the world throguh this diary.
This book is a wonderful insight into the lives of Jewish people back then. It's great to read, to find out about a major part of european history from a diary of a young jewish girl and it's very resourceful. This book can be used for assignments. What ever reason you read this book, it is wonderful all around.
