In this in-depth look at the book itself as art, the reader will be guided through a wide variety of binding techniques and structure styles, topped off with plenty of inspiration for transforming books into works of art. Techniques range from collaging directly in a pre-made book (altered bookmaking) to printmaking to making concertinas and books folded from a single sheet. The reader will see the form and function of a book in a new light, viewing it as a new form of creative expression. Step-by-step photos guide the reader through binding techniques as well as through several mixed-media applications in this inspirational resource.

What an inspirational book, even if you only use it as a coffee table book - which I'm not. The author Dorothy Krause has put together many techniques she has gained throughout her life and opened up the world of making a visual arts diary that suits your personality. Once you take a look inside you will become a hoarder of little things to make that next book to put you memories in or create a wonderful art piece. Have fun!
