A wonderful story of a friendship between Jess and Leslie, two 10 year old children. The children save each other from the isolation that they feel in their small town school. As their friendship develops and through the imaginary world of Terebithia that they create, they learn to be stronger and more confident. When tragedy strikes, the lessons that have been learnt make a difference to how the situation is dealt with. I also enjoyed the relationships between each child and their father. For children 9+, although you might want to read the book with younger readers at first, as it is quite sad. A wonderful book to get children thinking about the concept of friendship and grieving. Very highly recommended.
