– Customer review on 08/04/2008 For the average student, quoting the phrase "the invisible hand" is about the extent they will go in regards to Adam Smith. However, for the economics student who wants to understand the true origins of economic thought, they must read "wealth of Nations". Although written in 1776, Smith was writing to a broad audience, compared to the works of Malthus, ricardo and Keynes this book will seem very readable. This means his work is easier to read and filled with an excitement to where Smith saw his world approaching. With industrial revolution and its seemingly endless possibilities, Smith was truly a revolutionary with an anticpatory eye on the future. Do not let your knowledge of smith only contain the invisible hand, a pin factory and the story about the baker not really caring about your well-being. Read Adam Smith and discover the origins of the modern world.
HOWEVER, this copy does not in clude an index (!?!) It does look good, but no index?? What? Why?
