This is one of the most well-known books on the planet.. but we discovered a whole new meaning for the book with our children's condition which demands a gluten-free diet.

As the Very Hungry Caterpillar eats his way through all the foods and gives himself a stomach-ache - we pointed out to our children that all the cakes and sausages he ate would also give them a stomach ache.........so our family have diagnosed him as a Coeliac!!

So if you have a child living on a gluten-free diet too - this is a really cool book for you to educate your child about their condition with.

Apart from that it is such a fantastic book for children anyway!!

This was a childhood favourite of mine and now I delight in reading it to my own children. A lovely, gentle story that allows for many discussions about nature and that also includes some simple counting opportunities. Just beautiful.

What can be said about this classic childrens' book? Except that I loved it as a child (and my mum still has my copy for when the grandchildren visit!) and now my children love it too. Such a simple concept, yet so well executed as to be eternally popular. A lovely story about the lif cycle of the butterfly, albeit a very simple one. But children will remember it when they are older and come to study this topic in more detail. Just fabulous!

I used to read this book to death as a child, and I still have to say that I love it to this day as I read it to my own children. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is an essential book for the young to listen to, or to read themselves if they are old enough to do so. A great one that they will grow to love.

The perfect book for any child to explore - either by themselves or cuddled up in the arms of a parent. Count the fruit together, discuss healthy eating, talk about the life cycle of a butterfly, or simply enjoy one of those truely blissful moments that can only come when you are sharing something with a child.
