A great book that has also become a movie. James lives with his horrible aunts, but one day when he climbs into the giant peach which is growing in his garden; he discovers a world beyond his imagination. Due to the help of the various friendly insects whom James befriends,. he is able to escape his aunts clutches and escape into the great-unkown.

Outside the dismal home of James and his horrific aunts there is a giant peach tree. And when magic touches it, it produces a giant peach, and giant insects. James, whose parents where horrifically killed by a rhino (yes, we know, they're herbivorous, but this is fiction), is thrilled to step inside the giant peach and into what seems like a new world. Both his courage and his intelligance are tested as the cross the sea in a giant peach...

After reading this book, I never feared bugs and insects again! They were so friendly and helpful that as a child, I could o longer see them as creepy crawlies, but rather, i imagined them as they were portrayed in this novel. I couldnt imagine that living in a giant peach would be enjoyable, but the tale was thoroughly delightful.
