I judge a book by its cover, and the picture on the front had me hooked from the first. CHasing Vermeer is a quest, an adventure and a story about self discovery. Some have compared it to the Da Vinci code for juniors, and possibly this is right. It's an involved story and will excite young readers.
This reminds me of a very old story set in a museum, called "from the mixed up files of mrs basil e. frankweiler"
be sure to buy the hardcover book and take off dust jacket.

An excellent book that, if a little slow to get going, became fascinating and a challenge. (The coded letters going back and forth between characters which the reader has to translate for themselves were delightfully interactive.) With a map of the setting and information about Vermeer, this story is a great read for younger readers who want something a little different.
