As a child, I loved this story and now as a kindergarten teacher, I love reading this story to my class. The pictures are beautiful and the story never gets boring. This is a favourite with both my two year old and my seven year old as well.
This is a sweet little story about a duck called Ping who lives on a boat on the Yangtze River. It is easy to read again and again to your child without getting bored, and the chances are that you will have warm memories of having this story read to you when you were a child. It’s a the mark of a classic when a book is still popular 70 years after its first publication.
Beautiful little book which follows the adventure of a little duck named ping. This book is used in the five in a row curriculum and has many learning values - eg geography, moral, language and art technique to just name a few. Great book which proves to continue to be a favourite with children and adults alike.
Ping the little duckling left behind, has to find his way back to his boat home and has a life lesson along the way. A true classic.
Beautiful illustrations and a little bit of cultural information make this little book a joy for many generations to come.
As a child this was my favorite story to listen while at school.(I also believe this is where my love for Indian Runner Ducks came from) :)
Not impressed with the quality of the actual book, you really get what you pay for. Book is flimsy and cheap looking. Story itself is okay, perhaps too old for my 15 month old. I haven't had a good run after receiving a MINATURE cheap version of the 'The Very Busy Spider' the day before.
A story with a moral for children and adults alike. It is one that has proven its worth over time. All readers will be able to relate to Ping and his quest to find his family. Worth a read and one to keep.
Not overtly impressed with this one.
My son and I read it once, and he has not asked for it again, so I conculde that his review would match mine.
I'm sure this book will have its audience, but in my opinion there are plenty of much better kids stories out there.
Perhaps i expected more from this little book, considering all the pleasant reviews and the fact that after all these years it's still being published. But i was a bit disappointed, and so was my little sister. This book just doesn't have the new spunk that more recent children's book, those that cater to the changing expectations of today's younger generations, seem to possess.
A classic story we all remember from our own childhood - great to be able to share it with my children. This is a 'budget' paperback (which is very good value for money) other versions, possibly higher quality are available for slightly more money.
