To accompany the release of the live action movie of The Cat in the Hat, starring Mike Myers, HarperCollins are proud to present Dr. Seuss's original, classic tale of the coolest, hippest cat in history! When the Cat in the Hat steps in on the mat, Sally and her brother are in for a roller-coaster ride of havoc and mayhem! The Cat can rescue them from a dull rainy day, but it means lots of thrills and spills along the way. The wonderfully anarchic Cat in the Hat is one of the most popular characters in children's fiction, and this book is ideal for budding readers to tackle on their own. Reviews 'Dr. Seuss ignites a child's imagination with his mischevious characters and zany verses.' The Express About the Author Theodor Suess Geisel - better known to millions of his fans as Dr. Seuss - was born the son of a park superintendant in Springfield, Massachussets, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England, he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man. He soon turned his many talents to writing children's books, and his first book - 'And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street' - was published in 1937. His greatest claim to fame was the one and only 'The Cat in the Hat', published in 1957, the first of a successful range of early learning books known as Beginner Books. |

Dr Seuss books are absolute classics, and this one "the cat in the hat" is a must in every childs bookcase. Dr seuess writes with a passion for creating really fun and exciting tales for children of all ages. this book is about the naughty cat who goes to visit sally and her brother one day, while Mother decides to go out. As far as books go, this is a long one. Suits kids more over the age of 4 when they have the attention span to appreciate it. If buying this one, its worth also buying 'The cat in the hat comes back' which is equally good. The illustrations also appeal more to the older pre-school kids then the younger ones.

Classic Dr. Seuss. Whatever you do, make sure you buy this book if you have kids. For both myself and my children my family has found this book to be a timeless classic that can be read over and over without diminishing in entertainment (my kids nearly know it by heart!)

This is a classic! What trouble that cat caused that day for Sally and I as our mother was for the day.Our fish told as so,not to listern to that cat and let him in. But we did...and things went crazy all through the house, could we clean it up in time before mum got home, well you will have to read this book to find out.
