A little boy who overfeeds his goldfish begins an adventure that brings even the police and a fire engine to cope with A FISH OUT OF WATER. Beginning readers will delight in this fast moving story. 'I can read it all by myself' is the Beginner Books motto, and behind it is an understanding of how important it is for children to take pride and pleasure in their early reading. Beginner Books have been designed to appeal directly to children through the use of humour, rhyme and bright pictures that can be 'read' even by the non-reading child. Some Beginner Books are simple stories, others are hilarious nonsense: both types have been designed to give children confidence and make them want to go on reading. |

– Customer review on 27/07/2008 A timeless story about consequence of action, children will be amazed to see an overfeed fish grow and grow. The illustrations are really the best part as a little boy is forced to find larger containers to house his ever increasing sized fish. This is a story with a moral and soon your child will be reading along with you. Simple and fun.

– Customer review on 18/06/2008 A funny story about a little boy who overfeeds his pet gold-fish and it grows and grows and grows. Read the story to find out what happens! Its an easy book to read for younger kids and for non-readers the pictures are great to follow the story that is being read to them.

– Customer review on 22/02/2008 This was one of my favourite books growing up and now my children love it just as much we read it all the time they just love watching the fish grow bigger and bigger it is so fasinating for all children. When children are just starting out reading on their own this is a great one especially if they are into fish most kids would find this book as fascinating and funny as my kids and I do

– Customer review on 11/10/2007 I think this is a classic childrens book, one of my favourite when I was young. A fish that kept growing and growing is a great story, one that has stuck in my memory. Can't wait to read it again.

– Customer review on 28/06/2007 I remember reading this book as a child and am surprised that it is still available for purchase. I loved the whole story about doing the correct thing and listening to the pet shop owner. As a child, the thought of a fish getting so big was also incredible. I have read this book to my sons and although, not a favourite, they still loved listening to it.

– Customer review on 19/03/2007 The adventure begins when a young boy feeds his new fish too much, despite the very precise instructions of the pet shop owner. As the fish grows out of progressively larger containers, they eventually end up with a disaster on their hands. To the rescue comes the intrepid pet shop owner, Mr Carp. Great book for young readers and you can always get a discussion going about the importance of listening to and following instructions.

– Customer review on 09/10/2006 This is a fantastic adventure, recounting the difficulties faced by a small boy when he over-enthusiastically feeds his fish Otto, who then grows and grows and grows. Highlights include the trip to the pool, and the wacky Mr Carp from the pet store. The end leaves more questions than answers!

– Customer review on 18/06/2006 A great book about a boy that doesn't follow instructions and the trouble that it gets him into. He starts off at a pet shop and buys his first fish. Mr Carp the pet shop owner reminds him as he leaves the store "So much and no more or you never know what may happen". He thinks his fish needs more food to be happy, so he gives it a little bit more... Read on to find out what happens!
