When Sam-I-am persits in pestering a grumpy grouch to eat a plate of green eggs and ham, perseverance wins the day, teaching us all that we cannot know what we like until we have tried it! With his unique combination of hilarious stories, zany pictures and riotous rhymes, Dr. Seuss has been delighting young children and helping them learn to read for over fifty years. Creator of the wonderfully anarchic Cat in the Hat, and ranked among the UK's top ten favourite children's authors, Seuss is firmly established as a global best-seller, with nearly half a billion books sold worldwide. As the first step in a major rebrand programme, HarperCollins is relaunching 17 of Dr. Seuss's best-selling books, including such perennial favourites as The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham and Fox in Socks. In response to consumer demand, the bright new cover designs incorporate much needed guidance on reading levels, with the standard paperbacks divided into three reading strands - Blue Back Books for parents to share with young children, Green Back Books for budding readers to tackle on their own, and Yellow Back Books for older, more fluent readers to enjoy. Green Eggs and Ham belongs to the Green Back Book range. Reviews Dr. Seuss ignites a child's imagination with his mischievous characters and zany verses. The Express About the Author Theodor Seuss Geisel - better known to millions of his fans as Dr. Seuss - was born the son of a park superintendent in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England, he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man. He soon turned his many talents to writing children's books, and his first book - And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street - was published in 1937. His greatest claim to fame was the one and only The Cat in the Hat, published in 1957, the first of a successful range of early learning books known as Beginner Books. |

Don't know why I like this books so much as it's very repetitive. It's fun to read because you can get more and more frustrated as the guy tells Sam that he doesn't like Green eggs and Ham and it gets funnier and faster and more passionate. Great book. I like it so much we even have it in Spanish. Huevos Verdes con Jamon!

The kids in my class absolutely love this rollicking story of nonsense verse! The trick is to learn it well enough that you can read it extremely quickly without slipping up on the alliteration and quirky words. Dr Seuss's classic is great for chhildren young and old alike.

An excellent book from Dr Seuss, Green Eggs and Ham is a story about one person trying to get the other to try green eggs and ham, despite them frequently saying "I do not like green eggs and ham." Using basic rhyming structure "house, mouse" "fox, box", this is a great way for children to learn how to read, as the story is simple yet entertaining enough to encourage them. A must have Dr Seuss book.

I love reading Dr Seuss books out loud with the children. All those rhymes and rhythms are addictive (and so much fun). This book is particularly great to read with those fussy eaters or non-adventurous children who hesitate to try something new. Reading Dr Seuss always reminds me of hearing the stories myself as a child and they have lost none of their magic.

A hilarious look at how stubborn people can be when your mind is set on something. The repetative nature of the book is great for early readers, and make the book great to read aloud to children. A great moral, that its always great to try new things even if you think you won't like them. Another brilliant book from my favourite children's author!

This is such a classic, I can't imagine a childhood without this one! Green Eggs and Ham must be one of Dr Seuss' best well known books, and for good reason too. Kids will love to read along with this simple book, and love it's beautiful drawings too. This one's perfect for those just learning to read, and for enjoying the sounds of words!

Green Eggs & Ham - what a classic! This is a great read for night time reading to the kids. Dr Seuss books are very helpful for kids learning to read. I have found that the repetition in these books of words help kids learn to see how words look on paper. The kids thought this book was hilarious, and I found that when reading it at night, the book was not too long that they get distracted.

A classic that everyone should have on their bookshelf. Dr. Seuss is a great childrens book writer and is well known for this and this is probably his most famous for a reason. Its catchy as it rhymes and has great colourful drawings of Dr. Seuss' weird and wacky creatures.
A must for anyone, especially the kids
