– Customer review on 19/08/2006 One of my favourite books in primary school. Pagan is hilarious. This historical fiction piece is set in Jerusalem at the time of the crusades. England controls the holy city and the Knights templar are its holy guardians. Pagan becomes apprentice to Lord Roland. Their unlikely relationship blooms as war is about to overtake them all. The dialogue in this book will have most young boys cracking up. However, I will say this. I loved the first book as a twelve year old. As a result I still love it to this day. I tried reading some of the later ones in the series as an adult and did not enjoy them. Perhaps, here is a short novel entirely for 9 - 15 year old boys?
