"I read Cirque Du Freak last week. I loved it. I love the way you manage to juggle the funny with the unpleasant, the affection with the hurt. It's great story-telling." Roddy Doyle Lord of the Shadows 'Stephen King for kids ! Darren Shan has brought his own brand of vampire mythology into the heads and hearts of thousands of children with his vivid and compelling series The Saga of Darren Shan, about one boy's journey from ordinary lad to vampire prince. Once they're hooked, kids tend to rip into the flesh of these books, quickly draining them of their life blood. I love all Darren Shan's book within this series. I've read all of them two years ago, and they're still in my mind. I can just clearly imagine the story now as if I just read it last week. It has a creative plot in every series.
I'd recommend this to people who enjoy reading. This will definately not disappoint you after you read it
love love love this series. darren really has a great imagination with these books (a bit weird how the main character has the same name as the author, but whatever), and he knows how to create such a gripping novel! these three books are some of the most exciting in the series, as it is when the war is starting to heat up against the vampaneze. a must read!!
The Vampire War Trilogy is a really grea t series. It has 3 books from the Darren Shan Saga: Hunters of the Dusk, Allies of the Night, Killers of the Dawn.I must say that these other book ar e really cool. I have read these other books in the saga and these ones have the most action. These bokks surely are great reads. Trust me, you wont be able to put them down~!.
Vampire War Trilogy is a compilation of Books 7, 8 and 9 of Darren Shan’s Cirque Du Freak series, otherwise known as The Saga Of Darren Shan.
The trilogy comprises three books: Hunters of the Dusk, Allies of the Night and Killers of the Dawn. These, and the rest of the series, are intended for a readership of children around nine to twelve years old.
First, let me say that if you are squeamish this book is probably not for you. But if you like the Goosebump series - and take into account Darren Shan’s warning “Real life’s nasty. It’s cruel ... Evil often wins” - then you may well find yourself with a new favourite author.
At the beginning of the trilogy Darren Shan (the hero of the series, not the author) is a Vampire Prince who is given the assignment of stopping the Lord of the Vampaneze from coming into his full power and destroying the vampires in the world. [A side note here: - apparently vampires don’t drain people of blood. They snack daintily on a small amount at a time and leave their victims very much alive. Vampaneze, however, drink people dry … which isn’t very good press for vampires because they’re blamed for all the deaths.]
Darren Shan and his three companions are told they will cross paths with the Vampaneze Lord four times. At each encounter they will have the opportunity to kill him. If they kill him, then the vampires will win the Vampire War. If they don’t, then the vampaneze will win and they will wipe out every vampire on earth.
So no pressure!!
Darren and his companions leave the Vampire Mountain and begin their quest. They encounter some old friends from previous books and make new … not friends exactly, but acquaintances and enemies along the way. Their mission takes three books to get to a really major showdown – and that’s all I can say without spoiling it for you.
If you haven’t read the series and don’t know the background, that’s ok. There are enough explanations where necessary to bring you up to speed.
Darren Shan (the author, not the hero) is really Darren O'Shaughnessy, who was born in London in 1972, and moved to Ireland when he was six. He finished his first novel at the age of seventeen. That one was never published, but he wrote several others that were. However it wasn’t till January 2000 when Cirque Du Freak was published that his career really started to take off. Warner Bros have optioned the movie rights to the first two books in the Cirque Du Freak series, so we may yet see them on the big screen.
