I love vampire books, and more often than not there's romance attached. Every good vampire story has to somehow connect a human to a vampire too. This book has it all and starts of the series well. Although it's aimed at teenagers, anyone can read this. I got hooked and read it over a weekend. I had heard great reviews and quite a few people and had to hunt it down, buying New Moon and Eclipse at the same time.
Bella moves to her old hometown to move in with her Dad, a cop, and makes new friends, and has this attraction to a very good looking boy with odd behaviour which she can't figure out. As you imagine a friendship and then romance develops, which in the end puts Bella in danger.

I bought this book for my daughter who is 12. My daughter has been hassling me for some time to be allowed to read horror books - however vampires and pre-teens do not lead to a good night's sleep for their parents. Being a "good" mother I read it first! And... I was pleasantly surprised.
I thought the story line was excellent and well pitched for a 12 year old. While the story was most definitely based on the horror genre and covered teenage issues for the late teens, it was written in a way which was not overly graphic/explicit and allowed the reader to interpret the text based on their own experiences. In other words, your average pre-teen will not be confronted with issues they do not have the experience to deal with but will feel very grown up to be reading about vampires.

I cannot stop raving about these books - recommending them to anyone who will listen to me! Unfotunately, the synopsis on the back of the book just does not do Twilight justice, so if you pick it up and think, Nah...THINK AGAIN.
Bella is your typical teen, recolating to live in dreary Forks after previously living in sunny Phoenix. She's not looking forward to it, until the Cullen Family draw her attention...specifically, Edward. Edward is also drawn to Bella, in that she's got the sweetest blood he's ever smelt in his whole entire...afterlife...
READ THIS!

the would undoubtly be my favourite series of books. i have read twilight three times already and still love it.
it is a unlikely love that is formed between a gorgeous super human vampire named edward and bella a plain jane human girl that finds herself always with bad luck and she is quiet clumpsy. the things that have to overcome to stay together is heroic and romantic.
you will love it.

This is how I explain the story to everyone:
When Bella moves from sunny Pheonix to rainy Forks, she doesn't have very high expectations of the town, since she grew up there and was glad to leave when her parents seperated. Now moving in with her dad, Bella is back in Forks and it utterly surpirsed to find that she likes it, the kids are friendly, her dad bought her a truck and she seems to have attracked some attention from the boys.
But then Bella mets Edward Cullen, he is smart good looking and... a vampire. Edward finds Bella's scent so utterly appealing he finds he irrisitable, but yet he doesn't want to kill her to takes her blood...as the two become close, can Edward fight the temption to bite Bella. Will the 'sstar-crossed lovers' survive?
This is a book anyone will enjoy.
