A lovely book with lots of repetition and a catchy tune to boot! My kids love this book. The really little ones name the animal and make the animal sounds. Though admittedly having a 4 year old who becomes obsessed with saying the word 'die' when she hears it, I have altered it a little so the old lady 'cries' each time she swallows another animal... My 7yr old looks at me like I've committed a crime, but at least my 4 yr old doesn't ask lots of tricky questions at bedtime! A fun book kids really like - particularly pre-schoolers.

My 20mth old son loves this book and is a must in every child's bookshelf. He will often sit and read this book, well at least he holds it the right way up and pokes his fingers through the holes making the sounds of all the animals he knows.

A lovely illustrated book that is also a classic for the children. I like the repeative sentences/words in the book and how and why the old lady would swallowed the creatures. Children learn about different sizes and sequencing through this activity, and they also managed to get their imagination run wild too. :) At the end of the story where it says the old lady will die, i change it to the old lady might get really sick, just to make it less dramatic for the children. :)
