Poor Dick and Sally. It's cold and wet and they're stuck in the house with nothing to do . . . until a giant cat in a hat shows up, transforming the dull day into a madcap adventure and almost wrecking the place in the process! Written by Dr. Seuss in 1957 in response to the concern that "pallid primers [with] abnormally courteous, unnaturally clean boys and girls' were leading to growing illiteracy among children, "The Cat in the Hat "(the first Random House Beginner Book) changed the way our children learn how to read.

The cat in the hat is a story the two kids are
at home when this cat comes over and plays
his own games and they don’t turn out right
and the cat in the hat likes it but don’t just
in nick of time it all go’s right! This is a book
for all ages.
A great children's classic the cat in the hat is a favorite for my daughter. I find him a little frustrating, barging into the house and wreaking havoc while the kids parents are away. Fortunately everything turns out ok, until he returns in The Cat In The Hat Comes Back! A great rhyming book every child should have.
One of the most popular children's books of all time, and Dr Seuss' best, The Cat in the Hat is a story about two children left on their own. Bored because it is raining outside, things get interesting when a cat shows up to play with them. Naughty and irresponsible, the Cat starts causing trouble, despite a pet goldfish trying to put a stop to it. Wildly entertaining for kids; this book is great at help them learn to read with its rhyming patterns.
Like all Seuss books, this is one to read out loud with your children. The rhymes and rhythms are so much fun. The adventurous cat is sure to entertain children with his energetic antics. One of the classics of children's literature in my opinion. All children should read this book.
The Dr Seuss books are always a favourite amongst the children, although I think this book appeals more to boys than girls. The rhyming and word plays in the book never fail to excite and delight children and appeal to their imagination. The storyline is the winner here, with the illustrations almost letting the book down (in my own opinion of course).
What a great book. I loved it as a child, and have had so much pleasure passing on this wacky, zany tale about what to get up to when mum is not around. The tongue twisting rymes, and crazy antics entrall both reader and listener. One of the must have classic story books for all children.
if your children have seen the resent cat in the hat movie and have never read the book, then i reocomend that they do. This would have to be the best classic book from Dr seuss about a cat in the hat how comes to play with 2 children on a rainy day. with lots of fun installed your child will love this book. highly recomended
This is a great book, this was the very first dr seuss book that was read to me and i loved it that much that years later i went out and bought my own copy. I did not like the movie of this much i still prefer the old classic book to sit down and read. I have read this to younger members of my family and they also enjoy reading this book. I give this book a big thumbs up.
My kids love this story! The things that The Cat in the Hat does on that rainy wet day, letting out his pets Thing One and Thing Two against their goldfish's will, what trobule they all get into, what a mess the house is in,will they be able to clean it up before their mother comes home? A must read for the kids.
while the movie for this book sucked, the book itself is very enjoyable. The story of two kids left with a babysitter, meeting up with a giant cat and getting up to all sorts of mischef, highly reccomended. Very well written and uniquely illustrated, this is one of the best childrens books ever made.
