Seven bears sneak out of bed, through the window, and across the dark countryside to investigate the source of a noise. Publishers Description Illus. in full color. The Bears' adventures take them in, out, around, and about. "A good job of combining words and pictures into a slapstick but cohesive story."--School Library Journal. About the Author Stan and Jan Berenstain were both born in 1923 in Philadelphia. They didn't know each other as children, but met later at school, at the Philadelphia College of Art. They liked each other right away, and found out that the both enjoyed the same kinds of books, plays, music and art. During World War II, Stan was a medical assistant in the Army, and Jan worked in an airplane factory. When the war was over, they got married and began to work together as artists and writers, primarily drawing cartoons for popular magazines. After having their two sons Leo and Michael, the Berenstains decided to write some funny children's books that their children and other children could read and enjoy. Their first published children's book was called The Big Honey Hunt . It was about a family of bears, who later became known as the "Berenstain Bears". Over 50 children's books later, Stan and Jan still plan all of their books together -- both write the stories, and both write the pictures. They live outside of Philadelphia in the country. This is the absolute best Berenstain Bears book ever written. 30 years after it was first read to me I can still quote it off by heart, and I could'nt wait to read it to my son. He was 1½ when I first read this book to him and I have never seen him so animated about a book. Not for a child prone to nightmares or easily scared, as it is a little spooky, but if your child likes mischief, adventure and has a quirky sense of humour this is definitely the book! Can not recommend this book enough. It is a joy for child and adult alike.

The berenstain bears books are absolutely fantastic. Really old classic tales about the berenstain bear family, and the stories are humourous and quite often they are teaching the children morals and ethics. This book :Bears in the night is about 7 bears who sneak out, but should really be tucked up in bed... I remember reading these books when i was a child and now mine are reading them to me! A must in all childrens bookshelves.

I loved this book as a child and could never grow tired of it! Ideal for reading to children before bed as it is a short and sweet book about bears who sneak out at night when they should be in bed. With cute little illustrations and simple but effective words, this is sure to be a success with any child.
