My son loved this book as a pre-schooler and so I have bought a new one for my to be 3 year old nephew. The concepts covered in the book are educational but more than that it is well loved - hence we couldn't pass on my now 10 year olds one as it looks loved, in a Velveteen rabbit kind of way.
