Patterns of Polynesia Samoa

During the 1990s Ailsa Robertson's series of books was immensely popular. John MacKinven has begun updating her books, with her family's agreement, and Samoa is the first title to be reissued. The integrity and accessibility of Ailsa's work has been retained. Contents include a historical overview of traditional arts and crafts in Samoa, the showcasing of particular activities, in this instance siapo (generally 'tapa') and weaving. There are examples of activities that children can do in the classroom or at home throughout, accompanied by step-by-step diagrams and imagery of children who have tried these activities. This book is an excellent resource for home or school and gives a window into Samoan culture.
