I found this book to be extremely interesting and informative. It not only provided me with some useful hints on how to save in various areas of my budget but it was written in a very user friendly and engaging way. I enjoyed the author`s sharing of her familys persoanl experiences.

This book is a wonderful collection of very informative newsletters to help everybody save money. It is an american book, however, the ideas and principles behind this can be used across the board. I had many frugal ideas prior to purchasing this book, however there are a lot of ideas in here which I would never have thought of. Some of my favourites are the pizza base from scratch recipe, and the muffin mix recipe. I also like the article on 10 ways to save $100 per year, it is a great read to re-train your mind to frugal thinking/living. At 972 pages, this is well worth the money.

A huge tome of a book but a great reference book for anyone who is seriously concerned about saving money, reducing spending, and becoming less of a consumer and less wasteful. There are some amazing, practical ideas covering every category you could think of to use, re-use and adapt what you have to stop buying more stuff. With the advice in this book you can definitely save money and improve your financial situation with simple, practical ideas.
There is a lot of content so probably best used as a reference rather than read from start to finish. This is not a new publication but is still relevant, especially during a Recession. Some of the content is very American and there are obviously some ideas that will seem too extreme or inappropriate for your lifestyle. However reading Tightwad will definitely change your thinking about how we live, what we buy and what is really important.

I find this not just a great collection of hints & tips for saving money, but more importantly a great way to get the brain thinking in a "frugal" manner. I pick this up regularly and re-read parts just for motivation. It's one of my most read books!

A fantastic & comprehensive collection of hints, tips, recipes & suggestions to cut back unecessary spending based on the ideas implemented By Amy Dacyczyn & her family & written about in her newsletter, compiled here as a book.
The only complaint I would make is that it isn't organised in a fashion that makes it easy to find or refer back to a topic you've read earlier. Instead it is pretty much a compilation of the original Tightwad gazette newsletters as they originally appeared...as a result mine has LOTS of folded corners & post-it notes!! :-)

What an enjoyable and informative book. I got a fright at first, at how big it was. First thought was "Oh no a text book to read, I won't get through this!". I was wrong, once i started reading I found it hard to put down. So many helpful (and interesting) ideas. I have been trying them out on our family of 6, and they sure have been saving us money.

This book is a MUST for any serious saver - consider it an investment! Some of the recipes might require conversions but otherwise it is the BEST book I have ever bought. The tips contained with have saved me and my family so much money that I never lend it out for fear it wont be returned! It has nearly 1000 pages so is well worth the money.
