This has been a favourite of mine as I read it to my daughter when she was a little girl. I was so pleased to be able to get it again so I now can read it to my grandchildren.
Excellent book that is a sweet, heartwarming story about a department store teddy bear that longes for a home and finds one with a child who truly loves him exactly as he is (he is missing a button). It is a simple, moving story that has a lot of deeper messages within it. It is simply but beautifully illustrated.
Like the reviewer above I adored this story as a child and my son loves it too. I am sure that is why I am a fan of the teddybear. Once I even felt sorry for a bear on a shelf in a shop by himself so I bought him then found out it must have stemmed from this story as a child. Sounds nutty I know- lol! As I read the pages it brings fond memories and an adorable story with lovely pictures. My son also loves the stories they have on dvd which all contain a positive message for the littlies too as I feel this story does too. A must have!
OMG I absolutely loved this book when I was a kid. I still remember it. Corduroy is stuck in the toy shop forver. One day a little girl sees him and likes him but her mum doesn't, she thinks he's too dirty or something. He ends up taking matters into his own hands by getting off the shelf and going and finding himself a button for his overalls so that the little girl will be able to take him home. A wonderful story that's nearly as old as me lol.
