In a word - Excellent!
It's well written and is suitable for a fairly wide range of abilities.
As a complete beginner, you're introduced to each concept quite slowly and in a clear, concise fashion.
If you already have a bit of knowledge / experience you can skim read until you pick out the points of interest, that said I'd recommend a cover to cover read as there's so many little bits in there you'll always find out something new.
The chapters are well organised and their order is logical, taking your from creating a sound through to final mastering and promotion.
The chapters dedicated to individual genres are also quite enlightening and can help you focus on techniques specific to that genre.
My only criticism and a small one at that, is that on first reading some of it sounded a little outdated, however as you progress through the chapters I noticed this less and less.
If you consider yourself beginner or intermediate then it's a very wise buy - I think as an advanced user you would still benefit from the "view through someone elses eyes (or ears)".
