A wonderful, evocative tale about how waterholes came to exist on the African savannah.
Anne Faundez spent her childhood in Egypt and teenage years in Australia. She has been in publishing for most of her working life, specialising in fine arts and in education. She was reviews editor of Junior Education magazine and literacy consultant for Scholastic's educational division for more than ten years. She has written a range of teachers' notes, worked on various reading schemes for primary school children and published several fiction and non-fiction books for children. The Day the Rains Fell is her first book for Tamarind.
The Day the Rains Fell is the best book I've seen for younger
children - and for parents who want their children to enjoy and
learn at the same time - about why humanity and every species on
the planet is threatened
