I really enjoyed this book. It was a little slow to start with but once it got going it was full of action.
The interaction between the main character Rachel and her room mates, Ivy the vamp and Jenks the fairy was very funny at times, Jenks had me laughing out loud.I cant wait to start the next book in the series.
I think this book would appeal to all Sookie Stackhouse fans.
Happy reading :)

This has one of the funniest concepts lurking in the background of anything I had read in a long time. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Literally. I can't believe she put that in there, as a tomato strain kills normal people, but not the supernatural types, of which the heroine is one.
This can leave people deathly afraid of pizza suace. Very amusing.
This is solidly entertaining. Harrison manages to prevent a degeneration into 'girly romance', although that is definitely an element.
An ex-government sponsored bounty hunter leaves her job, which may not be the greatest idea. She tries to set up on her own and navigate the world of vampires, withces, werewolves, and ex-managers with a grudge.
A partnership with a cool female vamp and a few pixies helps out. Conflict with the supervillain of the piece doesn't.

This is NOT a Mills and Boons for the supernatural! Fast, funny and ironic in places. Has a sense of reality to it that places it above the average. Seriously, is there any reason why different species can't live together? I reccoment it!

The novel is set in new world, where in the 50s killer tomatoes wiped out most of the human race, resulting in the previously hidden preternatural world coming to the surface, their population now matching that of the human race. Today, the story is about Rachel, a fiesty witch who leaves working for a sort of preternatural bounty-hunter agency to start her own business and run things the way she wants - but her old work wont' let her leave so easily, putting a death-warrant on her for quitting. The other two main characters are Ivy, a living vampire, and Jenks, a pixie.
The world is richly created, it's unique, interesting, funny and the characters have very different personalities - I mention this last bit because I'm so sick of fantasy novels like the Black Dagger Brotherhood that create carbon-copy characters!
So anyway, buy it because you wont' regret it, I'm part way through the series and can't get enough, the story just keeps evolving.

This is the first in The Hollows series by Kim Harrison. The main character, Rachael, is a bounty hunter & witch in an alternate world where vampires, witches, weres & humans co-exist. Dead Witch Walking follows Rachael as she fights to stay alive after leaving her job. This is a must read for lovers of fantasy/magic. I have previously recommended these books to friends who have also enjoyed reading about Rachael & Jenks.

Review:
This is the first book in the hollows series and the first book that the author has ever wrote. This show because the book is a little rough around the edges. The main character is trying to extract herself from a situation that she got herself into. To do this she has to catch the city's local drug lord in a effort to pay off the price on her head. One of the best parts of the book is the interaction between Rachel and her two new room mates.
A good start to a good series.

Rachel Morgan decides to seperate from the IS and work as a free-lance bounty harder. The problem is that the IS won't let her go that easy, placing a bounty on her head. From here she faces multiple dangers...whether it's the threat of the IS, her vampire friend (Ivy) or the drug lord she is trying to bring down.
An odd book byt fun to read.

I loved this book, admittedly it was a little slow to start with, but once it got going i couldnt put this book down!! My favourite character (after Rachel of course) had to be Jenks the pixy, so funny. I am off to purchase the rest of the books in the series.
