Christine Warren just keeps getting better. While I enjoyed ‘She’s No Faerie Princess’ and ‘Wolf at the Door’, this novel about Abby Baker, a reluctant human vessel for a frightened fiend, and Rule, a demon [nope, they’re not bad guys, the fiends are], is sheer delight. Set against a backdrop of a world that has just discovered that things that go bump in the night are not only real but want citizenship rights, Abby, Rule, Lou the Fiend, and assorted other Others have to foil the wicked fiends from obtaining a deadly spell and taking over Above and Below, and in their spare time Abby and Rule try and fail [boy, how they fail] to withstand the explosive passion that flares between them.
